2012 London Olympics. Day Eleven

2012 London Olympics. Day Eleven

Tuesday 07th August 2012

Evening people.

So today was another planned day off for us. It was deliberately left free to give us the chance for a rest and to re-group. We spent most of the morning deciding what to do tomorrow.

Today also gave us the opportunity to watch some of the Olympics on TV. Watching it on TV gives you a chance to realise just what it is you are missing by actually being there. For example, did anyone out there see the interview with Seb Coe in the Olympic Stadium in Moscow? It was stunning. Walking around a running track in the snow of a Russian winter. Yet again it was the BBC at their best. If I can find it on the I Player I will post it.

For myself, today was also a massive come down, don't misunderstand, I'm still busy buzzing my tits off, but it goes to show just how difficult it is for me to try to explain the contradictions in emotions that’s are racing through head and heart. It’s a bit like wanting to do your girlfriends sister.

So off to Harlow to throw rocks at Arry's house and visit the Harlow Museum. Good stuff it is too. It's not the greatest museum in the world but then Harlow isn't the greatest place in the world, but the staff really do care for their jobs and you can see it in their efforts to get the local kids involved.

We came home via Waltham Abbey and The Lee Valley Water place thingy where the canoeing took place. I wanted to show Anna the difference in how it looked from last year when we spent the day there watching the Germans and Austrians going through their trials. We said that we would go back and re trace our steps and contrast the photos that we took from last year.

Once home it was lots of TV, lots of play, lots of just doing stuff that didn't revolve around the Olympics. It was good to switch off.

Before I go. Here are some photos from last night. It was the first time we've seen the Olympic Park in the dark and it's sad to think that it will be our last. It looks so pretty in the dark. The colours are so bright and constantly change. It's just like dropping an acid tab. Everywhere you look its colours. Spirials. Blocks. Flashes. Bright vibrant colours.

Noggin xx

P.S. Anyone else notice the irony with the flags?
