2012 London Olympics. Day Ten

2012 London Olympics. Day Ten

Monday 06th August 2012

Evening erm… Morning erm… erm…  What day is it?

We both woke today feeling a hell of a lot better. As for me personally, I felt really fresh, like the weight of the world has been lifted. I'm still not able to eat properly so its lots of cups of tea and after getting ready and a very quick trip into town is was off to the Olympic Park for our last time. While on a positive today was a drug free day.

The weather forecast said sun, light showers, heavy showers and then night. We gambled. We nearly lost, more on that later. When you look at the photos check out the sky, every time we looked up it was different.

Once we got onto the site Anna said she wanted to go and chill out on the grass, so we did. We went sun bathing in the Olympic Park... hahaha... I'll never get to say that again... It started to sink in. This was it. It's very quickly coming to an end.

McDonalds are obviously having a supply issue as all of their stuff came in generic packaging. Wonder how our guys are getting on. We've got to supply enough food for 24 MILLION meals.

We spent a lot of time doing the walks around the park. It’s such a great idea that, smack bang in the middle of the greatest show on earth, you can just have it all vanish. It’s a very strange thing. It’s just like looking through a two way mirror. You feel completely separated from the Olympics and yet it’s there, RIGHT THERE! Touchable. You even loose the noise too. As we walked along the river next to the stadium and under a bridge we found some gravel/dust, so we decided to draw a picture in the dust. As we stepped away we watched from a distance as people walking under the bridge stopped to look at what we had drawn and point and smile and then take photos. We just stood there giggling like a pair of school girls.

We did so little today and yet we did so much and bloody hell fire did we have some fun. It was just like that bit in Winnie The Pooh, when Christopher Robin says to Pooh Bear he's off to do nothing... Brilliant stuff.

Hockey. 5 different people tried to show us were our seats were. The four previous people showed us where our seats were not... WOW! Just how bright are those colours? GBR v NED. We had to win, except we didn't. Japan had beaten China so both GBR and NED were into the semi's. The game was tactical. Just how good do those female hockey players legs look? YUMMY! I'm very quickly going off football.

Back to the weather. It tried to rain all day. We still went out in our summer gear but took water proofs in the ruck sack. What I had forgotten about though was the sun going down and being in an open arena without a roof and God it went cold and it went cold quickly, very quickly. That temp drop made it easier to rain and it arrived. That really fine stuff that seems to get you wetter quicker and also rain up your trouser leg.

We stuck it until have time between ARG v AUS. That reminds me. The Mexican wave was on the rounds until it hit a block of Australian fans that simply refused to play along. They got so much abuse. The Mexican wave started off being done to have fun, it very quickly became a reason, a way, to have a go at the Aussies and surprisingly most people in the arena became Argentina fans for the night. Never thought I'd ever see that... GOOD CALL!

We made our way out of the Olympic Park as slowly as we could. It was over and we both knew it. I'd love to get into the stadium, but it's not going to happen. We still have two events left. We still have 6 days to go but it's already gone. I'm still going to look at getting tickets but the fat bags about to sing.

We eventually staggered onto the last train out of Stratford. Anna was asleep before we left the platform. Me? Me I just sat there remembering the last seven years and the things I'd gone through to get here and I had a little moment to myself. I get it now. I understand it now. When those guys and girls stand there and receive their medals and they lose the plot and have those very public emotional break downs. NOW I GET IT!

If I'm being honest. I'm crying like a big girlie pants as I type this. It's 03.15 and I'm buzzing my tits off... I've been on stage with Maiden 5 times and that was NOTHING compared to this. The only hit I've had that was bigger than this was when Anna was born.

Anyway. I'm rambling now so I'm off. I don't have a clue how I'm going to get to sleep.

Peace and Love.

Noggin xx
