2012 London Olympics. Day Seven
Friday 03rd August 2012
Evening
people.
Thankfully there was no alarm clock to wake me. It was a slow and a steady delivery into the day and didn't I need it. How can I be this this ill and still alive?
We finally got ourselves over to Czech House where we got to use the passes that were given to me by some of the Czech Team last week when I delivered next door. Good stuff. They are staying in the Islington Hilton and have turned the Design Centre next door into a cultural type thing. Basically, all that is good and well about the Czech Republic. I got as far as the girls at the bar... pretty girls and beer... I have no idea what Anna did...
Again, for the want of repeating myself. WHAT CHAOS? Where is it? The Central Line went down for 30 to 40 this morning and the BBC jumped all over it like it was the beginning of the end. It is always going down. Shit happens. What they failed to report with the same amount oomph is that it was up and running in no time and everyone got into wherever it was they were supposed to going to. There are TEN different ways to get into the Olympic Park and they make a massive song and dance out of one line going down.
Anna and I made our way over to the Excel for the weightlifting. We got to "Bank" and chaos. Total chaos. It was mobbed and worse still no one was doing anything about the situation. To many members of the public simply just standing there and not thinking. It was very not cool. Bank is a dead end station on the DLR but when you travel east bound there must be at least half a dozen destination points. I literally grabbed a member of staff. Where is this train going I asked? Lewisham came the answer. Right, shouted I, anyone going to the Excel get on this train and change at Westferry... and you... do your bloody job... people dived onto the train. The same people dived off at Westferry.
Taking your 11 year old daughter to the Olympics is like taking a puppy to the park... guys you know what I mean... and didn't it happen... ladies... ladies... ladies... there is plenty of the nogster to go around... please... form an orderly queue... hahaha...
We had never been to a Weightlifting event before. They showed a video before the event, an idiots guide to what was about to happen. Who would have thought there was so much to lifting stuff up off the floor? We both had a really good time and we were both completely taken in by the whole experience. The Olympic record was broken and then Re-broken at least a half a dozen times.
Also, it was the first time I'd ever seen an Olympic gold medal (silver and bronze too for that matter) I cried like a girl. It's all the drugs... it makes me emotional...
We came home via the park opposite The Tower of London by the old Roman London Wall. Lots of little people running and jumping... um...
Once home we went to Sainsbury’s shopping (not yesterday as previously posted... it’s the drugs they make me stupid... * sits and waits for obvious response *).
Today as been a groovy day...
Noggin xx
